2. Have a great security on your Computer- Activating your computer's FIREWALL is a great idea since this acts as your computer’s first line of defense. Deactivating the FIREWALL makes your computer vulnerable to attacks, viruses and malwares.
3. Download anti spyware programs- downloading anti spyware programs will help you prevent spyware attacks from infiltrating your device. Make sure to install or always update if you already have one installed in your computer
4.Stay conscious on every social media platforms. Be conscious of the things that you post online. Avoid giving out unnecessary information such as your address to strangers. Posting posts in public is maybe good for public recognition but, as much as possible, it’s better to only post updates in your circle of friends .
5. Securing mobile devices- just like computers, a mobile device is also prone to attacks and malwares, secure your phone by having pin and passwords, always install latest firmware updates ,and only download apps from trusted sources like PlayStore and APKpure.
6. Encryption – protect your data especially the sensitive ones using Encryption, back up important files so you don’t put them in vulnerable places like your storage.
7. Use VPN – VPN secures your data when browsing online, it uses different IP address so you don’t have to worry about spams and identity theft while browsing online
8. Don’t click links containing suspicious emails. If you see an suspicious email telling you that you won “600 thousand pesos," it is better to avoid those things because they are nothing but scams. Older people are more vulnerable to these kinds of attacks as they don’t have as much knowledge about scams as younger generations do.
9. Protect your identity online- just like number four (4), avoid giving out unnecessary information that will be used against you such as address or phone number. Additionally, make sure that the website you are browsing on is secure when making online transactions and conversations.
10. Call for help – Last but definitely not the least is always call for help when you don’t have the knowledge to manage cyber attacks. If you got scammed, it is a good idea to call the police since they can legally track down scammers and hackers easier that ever before.
